Children and Young People’s Services Committees (CYPSC) are a key structure identified by Government to plan and co-ordinate services for children and young people in every county in Ireland.  The overall purpose is to improve outcomes for children and young people through local and national interagency working.

Preparing for Life is a home visiting programme based in Ballaghaderreen and the surrounding catchment area. The programme is open to pregnant women and, with the mother’s consent, we also work alongside families until the child reaches five years of age and/or is ready to start school. This is a free, evidence-based programme that provides developmental resources at key stages of a child’s early years. Preparing for Life accepts both voluntary and universal referrals.

At Preparing for Life Ballaghaderreen, our ethos is to empower and support women, children, families, and the wider community to thrive. We do this by sharing information, building on each family’s strengths, and recognising parents and caregivers as the experts in their own lives. We are also running groups such as Circle of Security, Baby Massage, Building Baby from Head to Toe and Parents Plus.
